Sahara & Merzouga — 3 Days

Merzouga · Erg Chebbi — Maroc

One of Morocco's finest experiences: from Marrakech over the High Atlas through the Dadès and Roses valleys and the Todra Gorge to the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi, with a night in a Berber desert camp.

Three days of total immersion, from the red medina of Marrakech to the golden sands of Erg Chebbi. You will cross the Tichka Pass (2,260 m), skirt the southern palm oases, sleep in the Dadès gorges, then trek on foot and by camel up the dunes of Merzouga. Expect pisé villages, thousand-year-old kasbahs, encounters with nomad families, shared mint tea and a night in a Berber camp, lulled by the silence of the desert. The return follows the Valley of Roses and the Atlas range. A private, comfortable circuit with a driver-guide born in the South.

What clothes should I bring?
Light cotton clothes for the day, a fleece and jacket for cool desert evenings, hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, light walking shoes and sandals. A small toiletry kit and a torch are useful at camp.
Is the Berber camp comfortable?
Yes: private dome tents with real beds, sheets and blankets, shared facilities, traditional dinner served in the restaurant tent. Electricity is limited (generator in the evening). No wifi: total disconnection, the perfect chance to stargaze.
